Migraine treatment with Botox

Migraines are a very common condition affecting women more than men. They are similar to a headache but can also be very different to a usual headache. They typically present as throbbing pains down the side of the head but can often be accompanied by nausea, vomiting, dizziness and sensitivity to bright lights, sounds, loud voices and smells. They can last between 4-72 hours.
Migraines can frequently occur but it is also possible to go for many years without experiencing one.
Botox can be used as a preventative treatment to reduce the number of days you suffer with headaches. It works by blocking the chemicals (neurotransmitters) that carry pain signals before they reach the nerve endings. The development of a migraine is then stopped.
